The Haribo brand was founded in 1920 by Hans Riegel. The name Haribo is an abbreviation for "Hans Riegel Bonn". The entrepreneur started producing gummy bears in his hometown of Bonn in Germany. In the 1920s, Haribo was one of the first manufacturers of gummy bears and the company grew quickly.
In the 1930s, Haribo began producing other sweets, such as fruit gums and marshmallows. In the 1950s, Haribo became an internationally successful company and began expanding into the European market. In the 1970s, the company expanded its range to include the "Gold Bears", which would become one of Haribo's most famous products.
Today, Haribo is an absolute cult and exports its sweets to over 100 countries. But that's not all - the company brings new products onto the market every year, so there's always something new to discover for children and adults.
